Internships at the IOM Country Office for Austria

IOM regularly recruits interns for project support and assistance to the office's regular activities.
The duration of internship is usually 3 to 6 months.
Please note that remuneration unfortunately cannot be provided for all internship positions.

Requirements
The working languages of IOM Vienna are English and German. A very good command of spoken and written English and German is a prerequisite for an internship. Knowledge of other languages is a distinctive advantage.
Moreover, a basic knowledge and interest in the field of migration, asylum and integration are important requirements for an internship.

Interested candidates are encouraged to send their applications for internships (preferably in English, including a letter of intent and a CV) to IOM Vienna: iomvienna@iom.int (if not stated otherwise). Please state your availability as well as your preferred unit of internship.
Please note that, due to the large number of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
Interviews with IOM staff are conducted at the office in Vienna or, if not otherwise possible, by phone. Travel costs cannot be reimbursed by IOM Vienna.


Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Unit

The Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Unit of the IOM Country Office for Austria implements country-specific return and reintegration projects that aid voluntary returnees in re-establishing their lives in their country of origin. Interns assist in the implementation of these projects.

The Department for Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) is looking for an intern for the period from 1 July 2017 to 30 September 2017 in the extent of 40 hours per week.
Candidates should send a letter of interest and a CV in English to avrr.vienna@iom.int.

Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview. 
The monthly sustenance allowance amounts to 400 €.

Joint Internship in the Integration Unit and Counter-Trafficking Unit

The Integration Unit of the IOM Country Office for Austria implements a number of projects and activities that assist migrants to integrate into Austrian society. The Counter-Trafficking Unit carries out projects aiming to raise awareness about human trafficking and increase the identification of trafficked persons. Interns support the integration and counter-trafficking teams in implementing these activities.

The Integration Unit offers an internship for a minimum of 3 months  (32-40 working hours per week) anticipated as of July 2017.
Interested candidates are encouraged to send their application (including a letter of intent and a CV) in German to Ms. Timofte (itimofte@iom.int).

Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview. 
The monthly sustenance allowance
depends on working hours (400€ max.).

Research and Migration Law Unit

The Research and Migration Law Unit of the IOM Country Office for Austria offers internship possibilities in the areas of "media" and "research" throughout the year. Excellent command of spoken and written German and English is the prerequisite for a successful application. Applications for both positions are continuously accepted. Applicants are requested to indicate their availability in the application!

The IOM Regional Office for South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia is currently looking for a Media and Communications Intern.
